Muzafar Shah Habibullah is Professor of Monetary Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) teaching macroeconomics, monetary economics and econometrics. He completed his PhD from University of Southampton, United Kingdom. 

 

Currently, he is Head, Research Fellow at the Institute of Mathematical Research (INSPEM) at UPM. His research interests include the area of applied macroeconomics and monetary economics. At present his research inclination is towards the study of economic integration in Asia, and the economics of crime, underground economy, war and conflict, climate change and disaster in developing countries .

 

He is Chief Editor of the Journal of International Economic Review published by Serials Publication. He is also the Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Business and Society (published by UNIMAS), Journal of Social Science and Humanities (published by UPM) and International Journal of Economics and Management (published by FEP). Professor Muzafar Shah is a regular contributor to international journals and has published more than hundred scholarly papers in 67 different journals. His publications have appeared in Journal of Asian Economics, Japan and the World Economy, Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters, Savings and Development, International Economic Journal, International Journal of Social Economics, Journal of Asia Pacific Economy, among others. 

 

His most important contribution in his area of work was documented in a book published by Ashgate entitled, “Divisia Monetary Aggregates and Economic Activities in Asian Developing Economies”. The book offers a first attempt to explore the potential role of Divisia monetary aggregates as useful intermediate indicators for monetary policy purposes in ten “deregulated” Asian developing economies.
