COMPETITION RULES AND GUIDELINES

  1. APCEMal2023 INNOVATION COMPETITION (APCEMaL-IC2023) is OPEN to all participants at various levels (professionals, academics, researchers, and students) that are interested.

  2. Participation can be individual or group. Each group must consist of not more than 5 members including the group leader.

  3. Participants can choose any SUB-THEMES that has been set. The RIGHT class selection will help participants to achieve the best marks in the competition.

  4. Entries must include a completed entry form and a payment slip as proof.

  5. Group members are regarded according to the name(s) listed in the entry form and any amendments are not allowed.

  6. The usage of English and Bahasa Malaysia are allowed for Innovation Abstract.

  7. Innovation Video should be produced in English or Bahasa Malaysia (with English subtitles).

  8. Participants who fail to be present during the session will be disqualified from the final round.

  9. No refunds will be issued if participants wish to withdraw from the competition.

  10. Decisions of panels are FINAL. Any complaints will not be entertained.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING INNOVATION ABSTRACT 

​

  1. The title, authors, abstract and keywords must be provided during the registration.

  2. The abstract must be written in one paragraph only (250 – 300 words).

  3. The abstract must be written in English or Bahasa Malaysia with no grammatical errors.

  4. The abstract should contain:

    • Background,

    • Problem Statement,

    • Objectives,

    • Innovation Description,

    • Benefit/Impact; and

    • Conclusion.

  5. On any part of the abstract, the theme “Society 5.0” or the chosen subtheme should be highlighted.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING INNOVATION VIDEO

​

  1. The innovation video should be between 5 to 10 minutes in length.

  2. The innovation videos can be produced in English or Bahasa Malaysia (with English subtitles).

  3. The innovation videos must include the following mandatory sections:

    • introduce the innovator(s) and institution(s)

    • explain the problems that lead to innovation

    • explain the innovation in detail

    • explain the benefits/impact of the innovation (*On any part of the presentation, "Society 5.0“ or the chosen subtheme should be highlighted).

  4. ​​The performance of the innovation video is based on the creativity of the participants.

  5. The innovation videos must be uploaded to YouTube and only the YouTube link needs to be submitted in the innovation video submission link.

EVALUATION SESSION GUIDELINES

​​

  1. The duration of the evaluation session for each innovation is 15 minutes: 10 minutes for the Innovation Video Session (will be played from YouTube) and 5 minutes for the question and answer session (live) via Webex.

  2. All participants must always be prepared online.

  3. Participants who fail to be present during the evaluation session will be disqualified from the final round.
