PROFESSOR DATO’ DR MOHAMMAD SHATAR SABRAN

Professor Dato‘ Dr. Shatar was appointed as the 6th Vice Chancellor of UPSI on February 24th, 2017. After receiving his Diploma in General Studies from Indiana University of Bloomington, USA, he pursued his Bachelor Degree and Master at Iowa State University, Ames, USA. His major is in Community and Regional Planning. In 1999, he completed his doctorate and earned a Ph.D. in Leadership and Community Development from University of Missouri, Colombia USA.
Given his professional expertise, Professor Dato' Dr. Shatar was handpicked for an international duty as an expert in organizations like Tomorrow People Organization, Asian Productivity Organization (APO), and Community Development Academy (CDA). Apart from these international roles, he also served as a government officer at the Public Service Department of Malaysia, Federation of Malay Economic Bodies (GABEM) and National Drug Prevention Agency. In the field of sociology, Professor Dato’ Dr. Shatar is a renowned speaker and has delivered more than 700 motivational talks across Malaysia as well as Asia in various topic including leadership, humanities and social problems. Also, he has written more than 40 books in community development, leadership, soft skills and motivation and being appointed as a ‘Distinguished Visiting Professor’ at Taft Payame Noor University, Iran since 2015.
In recognition of his work and contributions, Professor Dato’ Dr. Shatar received numerous awards internationally as well as locally. In 2010, he was conferred with the Malaysian National Academic Award in the Arts and Social Sciences Cluster and in 2012, he is listed among the ‘2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century’ by the International Biographical Center, England. Early this year, he is being awarded with the Outstanding Contribution to Education from the Golden Globe Tiger Awards based in Mumbai, India.

Professor Datuk Razali is an expert in Strategy, Leadership, Innovation, Transformation and Performance. He consults, trains, facilitates and advises on the above and any other areas of strategic importance to organisations. For the past 38 years, he had served in various multinationals public-listed companies, government-linked companies and public research institutions as a senior in the field of aviation (BRITANNIA AIRWAYS and MAS); automotive manufacturing &

export marketing (PROTON); oil & gas (ESSO and SHELL); ICT & microelectronics R&D (MIMOS); industrial technology R&D and quality certification (SIRIM).

At the national level, Datuk Razali lectured for over three years at INTAN’s public sector ‘Top Management and Leadership Programme’ (Pra-JUSA) on ‘Business Policy and Strategic Management’, involving more than 200 public service leaders, including military generals, commissioners of police, secretary generals, director generals and chief executives of government institutions. Since 1995, he had also contributed to various national-level committees, government agencies and higher learning institutions such as MARA, MIGHT, EPU, MOECD, MOSTI, MITI, NPC, MOF, PDRM, IIUM, UUM, UiTM, UPM and UTM.
On the international front, he had served on the EXCO of an international non-profit organization, the Global Knowledge Partnership, and had contributed to the World Economic Forum (as Member of the Global ICT Taskforce for Bridging the Digital Divide), World Business Council for Sustainable Development (EMS Hand-holding Project for SMEs) and Islamic Development Bank (Strategic Plan Review and Validation).

Professor Dr Bashir Ahmad is a Professor of Management Sciences in Bahria University, Karachi Campus. His educational qualifications include Masters in Economics, MBA in Marketing, MSc in Leadership and Conflict Management, MSc in Contemporary Strategic Studies and PhD in Management Sciences. He is also certificate holder of LUMS (Lahore University of Management Sciences) in Supply Chain Management and Marketing Strategies and Financial Management

from Pakistan Planning and Management Institute, Islamabad.

In addition to numbers of research articles in various journals, he has also authored four books which include Management: Evolution and Application in Our Environments, Organisational Performance Excellence and Quality Management: Dilemma of the Third World, Managing Constraints: Psycho Social Complexities of Pakistan and Management Evolution and Application in Underdeveloped and Developing Societies, 2nd The write-up of his 5th book is complete and under review. He has written a chapter ‘Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Misgivings and Resolve’ in China’s Belt and Road Initiative in Global Context by Palgrave Macmillan.
Presently he is HOD Management Sciences at Karachi Campus of the University. Earlier he has been coordinating head of Postgraduate Studies which includes MS (Finance), MS (Project Management), MPhil and PhD in Bahria University Karachi Campus. He has been Editor of Global Management Journal for Academics and Corporate Studies for over 3 years. He is also Editor of Bahria University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences. His areas of specialization include Philosophies of Organizational Management, Human Resource Development Cum Management, Change Management, Strategic Studies, Qualitative Research and International Management of Organizations cum Businesses.
